Help me reach my fundraising goal

Story

Hello I’m David and I run The Spotless Cleaning Company in Grantown-on-Spey. We have found it hard work wise due to Scottish government legislation, but I feel that we are in a fortunate position to do something good for our Community of the north of Scotland.
Over the course of the year, I will be walking (virtually) the distance between Lands End and John O’Groats. Hopefully as lockdowns are released I might get to do some physical legs.
I feel that kids are future and want to help them have the best start which is why cash for kids is my charity

Have a look below; you can see updates about my fundraising, how it’s all going and hopefully some messages from other sponsors too.

I’m raising money to support MFR Cash for Kids in Moray, the Highlands and Aberdeenshire so they can make a real difference to the lives of local children and young people.

Everything raised in our area stays in our area, with a focus on alleviating poverty, supporting disability and improving quality of life. Any amount you care to give is very much appreciated. After you sponsor me, it would be great if you could leave me a photo or video support message too!

A really huge thank you to all of my supporters. It really means a lot for this totally worthy cause. This year has been one of huge highs and lows. Starting with a Covid lockdown and zero business, to breaking my foot in February. Having a functional foot for the lockdown release on the 26th April. Growing a business month on month. Hiring new staff. Losing a few clients. Gaining more. Being in a great positive mindset and knowing nothing can stop me!
It means a lot so thanks once again!

Wow, what a year so far! I’m just over 4months into my walking challenge for MFR Cash for Kids and I’m the equivalent distance of just by Manchester/Bolton.
I initially started so well out of the blocks and was over 2times my target mileage. Then disaster hit of a broken foot. I am now in my recovery stage, but starting to clock up the miles again. Lockdown has been released and I can work again so adding miles whilst I work.
It maybe hard but not as hard as some family’s struggles, so it means a lot that people have given to this totally worthy cause.....
Thank you

What ever life throws at you, it is the determination of the soul which will see you fight through. 4weeks ago, I was not expecting a walk on a sunny spring day to lead to a rolled ankle and a broken metatarsal. I could of quite easily given up at this point. I could of just not carried on because I had a setback. My drive and determination is different. There are many disadvantaged kids out there without that choice and this is why I am supporting MFR cash for kids and that’s the reason why I will complete my Lands End to John O’Groats walk.

Fracture Clinic appointment update.
By rolling my ankle, I might (more than likely) have a Lisfranc Fracture. Might be more time off walking than I thought, so it’s lucky I put in the extra effort to get ahead.
I will be able to complete this challenge in a year. So it will be done. This is just a speed bump in the way

Day 56 of my Virtual Lands End to John O’Groats walk for @mfrcashforkids was an eventful one......
Who knew walking was such a dangerous activity? I rolled my ankle, but due to the nature of the beast and the muscular ankles that I have, I didn’t damage it. I broke a metatarsal instead. X-rays showed that there might be damage to the joint but the wonderful team at raigmore sent me through to CT and luckily there was no damage hidden there.
This isn’t the end of my walk, just an obstacle I have to over come. Recovery time is 2weeks to start to feel better and another 2-4weeks to get back to things.
I am not defeated and once recovered, will continue to my goal!

Hello and thank you for following my challenge for 2021 with my virtual Lands End to John O’Groats walk.
Today, it’s a momentous day for me, journey-wise. Today, I have completed a walk from Lands End to Inkberrow (nr Stratford-upon-Avon) it’s the village I grew up in and have fond memories of treading around those streets. I know it so well when I walk up here, I can visualise walking the routes.
My Dad still lives in Inkberrow so I will be virtually staying with him.
I would like to thank everyone for the support so far for the first 275miles, and I know I have a long way to go, but I will get to my goal of walking to John O’Groats.

I am currently sat on £100 donated to MFR cash for kids but I would love it see if I could push that to £1 /mile walked so hitting the £1000 mark by the end of the adventure.

Thank you once again

Ps the snow is melting but there is plenty of ice to contend with

Hello,
Well that is the first month of 2021 complete. January was quite a wintery month with plenty of snow over the highlands and with the negative temperatures, made it very icy. I would say that by biggest learning that I have from January is to wear a comfortable pair of trainers and not my snow boots. On day 2 I wore my snow boots for a 14mile walk and this had a knock on effect of blisters for the next 2-3weeks following. I have had a few favoured walks around Grantown-on-Spey where I have managed to amass almost 180miles towards my total.
I am trying to make it into a good habit of mine, but on those -8degC days, it takes a fair bit of motivation to leave that nice warm bed but knowing that we are in a more fortunate position gives me that kick up the backside.
I am documenting my daily journey on my Instagram @davidbeach_highlandsofscotland and if you see me on the paths of Grantown please stop to say hello.
Keep tuned for more #FatManWalking adventures
Thank you
