Laurels is a fringe theatre venue, nightspot and a production company all rolled into one lovely package. Housed in a 120 year old social club in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, Laurels offers a year round theatrical programme, music, DJs, comedy, belter nights out and artist development. Laurels has quickly became a hotspot for artistic work and audiences on the North East coast, evidenced by the fact we were nominated for a Culure Award in 2023.

Our mission is to create exciting and bold work that places the North East at the forefront, and puts Northern working class artists on regional and national stages. We make theatre and the arts accessible to people who might not think "the arts" are for them. By removing barriers, we inspire creativity and confidence in people to tell their own stories and create.

In 2023, Laurels had over 40 shows on its stage. Over 11,000 people attended our events. And over 200 artists received paid work.
