Our first Cash For Kids challenge is being undertaken by none other than our Operations Lead, Mark Blackburn who is running 100 miles in May!
Mark's challenge is well underway and we have no doubt he will smash his goal by the end of the month.
You can follow Mark's updates on Aspire's socials (@aspireeducationacademy_ on Instagram | Aspire Education Academy on Facebook).
Have a little read of Mark's story here:
"So, for anyone that knows me, you know how much I struggle with my knees on a daily basis.
After a big injury back in 2009 playing football, where I tore my ACL, MCL, Meniscus, damaged the cartilage and dislocated my right knee all in one go and then after overcoming that and starting back football proceeded to tear my left ACL.
Over the years since 2009 I have undergone 14 operations on both my knees as well as numerous injections, a big goal for me was to always maintain my fitness the best I can though and I still love to run (albeit it’s not a very fast pace anymore, some might even call it a fast walk rather than a run)!
I wanted to set myself a personal challenge for the Month of May to really push myself for my own physical and mental health, so I have decided to try and run 100 miles in May.
With May having 2 bank holidays and also being my birthday (those who also know me, will know that I also like to have a good drink over a bank holiday and my birthday) so to complete this in May will be a tough challenge for me.
Whilst doing this for me personally and discussing it with a colleague of mine, we thought it would also be an opportunity for me to raise money for those less fortunate and support cash for kids a charity we like to work closely with here at Aspire.
If you would like to donate please click on the link and anything you donate helps no matter how big or small.
Remember how important it is to look after your own mental and physical health and how by doing this, it can help improve your personal and professional life, if anyone else wants to take part in this challenge then please feel free to do so."
